As a fly fisherman I tried to find leather fly rod cases that were affordable, looked good and would last. I searched many web sites and found that they were very expensive. I combined two of my hobbies ( fly fishing and leather work) and decided that I could custom make fly rod cases of different lengths and sizes and do it in such a way that would produce a beautiful case that would last many years.
I first started doing leather work when I was in high school, ( many years ago) , as most leather workers I started on wallets, moved into purses .
After graduation I put all my tools away and got on with my life, started a career, got married and worked long enough to finally retire. After getting most of the Honey-do’s around the house done , I pulled out my leather tools and started stamping leather and realized how much I loved working with leather and how much I missed it. That was seven years ago, I am able to produce a very nice looking leather case for a reasonable price.
I don't mass produce these leather cases, depending on the amount of stamping that goes into each case will determine the amount of time it takes to build one. Typically it takes ten to fourteen days to put one together. I have been selling them on E-Bay for the past 7 yrs and decided to try a different method of showing my cases.
